I am going to stop posting new posts for a while on my blog (probably for some of you sighs of relief!), while I work to improve my website. I am adding links to activism sites—including more material. And I am including some new features which I hope will be more interactive.
In the meantime, I will re-post some old topics—my favorites and yours.
I will be working to also develop more meaningful blog content. I want to include more guest writers.
That I was able to develop a website at all is a bit of a miracle since I knew so little about blogging in the beginning. The current format is still an awkward, old version of Word Press. I think the new site will be more pleasing to view. I am getting some wonderful assistance and learning a lot in the process.
I am also taking time to finish writing another book originally supposed to be part of the first book which is already out there called Misguided Education Reform: Debating the Impact on Students. I rarely plug this first book. But I think it has interesting content, especially related to special education, early childhood education, high-stakes testing and more.
Originally, the whole book was too big, so my kind editor at R & L Books asked me to divide the content into two books. I am constantly updating this other book because education issues change, and then again they don’t seem to change. Sometimes I feel like I am writing in circles. Do you know what I mean?
Anyway, writing a book is tough, you have to be a cool marketer which I am not, and I don’t know if I will ever write another, although, as you can tell, I do love to write. But writing and setting up a website to help fight the terrible reforms happening to public schools—the teachers and especially the students—is my way of speaking out.
If you would like to read parts of the new book, or glance at the new website and provide feedback or even do a review of the book let me know at nancy@nancyebailey.com.
Last but not least, I will still be hovering off and on around FB and learning how to Tweet more efficiently. Twitter is starting to grow on me, but I am still rather confused by it.
Please let me know if you’d like to see something in particular on my revised website—a particular organization or school group etc.
My favorite part of all of this thus far, has been connecting with wonderful teachers and parents and grandparents. I appreciate your comments on the site and on Facebook and your words of encouragement.
Take care and see you in a few weeks.
