On this Memorial Day: Remembering Protectors of Children and Public Schools

May 27, 2018 By Nancy Bailey 1 Comment

On this day, Americans rightfully remember those who fought and died for our freedom. Maybe they will have a barbecue. Perhaps they will make use of the sales and go shopping at the mall. But when they hang the flag, they will thank those who made our country safe, so we can say what we […]

Voucher proponents rely on selling a false narrative of private school homogeneity: images of tony prep schools w/Harkness tables and squash courts. Many voucher schools, however, are small, sectarian, and not very good at educating their students. https://twitter.com/joshcowenMSU/status/1621134422723661825

Nobody is saying many private schools don’t provide quality #education.

#schoolvouchers advocates use the implausibility of that red herring to weaken the case against vouchers.

We’re saying vouchers do not provide access to those private schools—and many that do, discriminate

The focus should be on lifting traditional public schools & reading programs for many students who attend those schools rather than on unproven private and charter schools. Fix IDEA by increasing options. https://nancyebailey.com/2023/01/29/reading-disabilities-focus-on-public-schools-not-school-choice/

Reminder: forcing children to read before they're ready & then FLUNKING them in third grade means failure for the child. Research shows this is unnecessary & there're better ways to help children besides 3rd-grade retention. https://nancyebailey.com/2017/10/09/force-flunk-destroying-a-childs-love-of-reading-and-their-life/

You know, I really don't like the public bus. I want the tax dollars to follow me to a private car service. https://twitter.com/MacleodFlorida/status/1621136945991786499

@michaelaolaya @DeAngelisCorey @pastors4txkids @MrWolff76 @GregAbbott_TX @Network4pubEd @carolburris @mayes_middleton Such a disingenuous (I am being kind) tweet from these 'pastors'. If the money follows the child, how is it taking away from the child. If the government schools can provide a good service, they can compete for the child's money.
