July 30, 2018 By Nancy Bailey 33 Comments

Why do parents remove their children from public schools? Why do they switch to homeschooling, private, or charter schools? What makes them believe that technology is the answer to their child’s problems? Sometimes, it’s simply because they prefer other settings, and they have no complaints about public schooling. What’s Individualized about the IEP and ESSA?

July 5, 2016 By Nancy Bailey 9 Comments

I am reviving an old post that raises questions about the relevancy of the Individualized Educational Plan when it is written according to the general grade level content  standards. Some Michigan Special Education History: A Lesson for All States

January 22, 2015 By Nancy Bailey 8 Comments

By Marcie Lipsitt Michigan once had a proud heritage of believing in the educational rights of our students with disabilities. But what has transpired over the past 39 years is not worthy of our history books or a wondrous fairy tale of children’s dreams come true. Misguided Education Reform

December 31, 2013 By Nancy Bailey Leave a Comment

A nice thing that happened to me this past year was the publishing, back in July, of my book, Misguided Education Reform: Debating the Impact on Students, by R & L Books (Rowman & Littlefield). It covers many of the same topics you will find on my blog. I discuss special education which might be […]

See, you give schools with lots of kids in poverty a little extra money, and soon they say they need more for healthy buildings and well-paid teachers and small class sizes and all the "extras" affluent schools get. I mean, where does it end?
