Will other states follow? While the media bombards the public with learning loss warnings, this program is about acceleration. Fast-Track Here’s what the brochure […]

Tennessee Legislators Cry, “Thank God for Memphis!”

April 5, 2017 By Nancy Bailey 3 Comments

Many voucher plans are popping up in state legislatures across the country. Here’s what’s happening in Tennessee. By Jim Gifford No matter what, many Tennessee legislators know a good deal when they see it. If a proposed new bill or untested program concerning public education is considered too risky or is unpopular with the constituents […]

DeVos and the Domino Effect on State Legislatures

January 31, 2017 By Nancy Bailey 4 Comments

So Betsy is in, or maybe she isn’t. DeVos stands as an example of both the corruption and stupidity of corporate America with its involvement attempting to educate America’s children. Republicans are spineless to confirm her, and Democrats, while united today, have also been complicit in permitting the dismantling of America’s public schools. If you […]

If you thought Common Core State Standards were bad, look out! Here come the new social-emotional standards to complement Common Core—because nothing says children have feelings more than benchmarks! Today’s Common Core State Standards are aligned to high-stakes testing that closes schools and pushes good teachers out. Of course, many parents have not been happy […]

The Continuing Bizarre Message That We MUST Test Students with Severe Disabilities—Say NO!

May 20, 2014 By Nancy Bailey 2 Comments

I wish I were a judge and had some of these ed. reformers who believe tests are more important than children come before me. Honestly. I’d send them to jail. Mandates written to play Gottcha with children’s services, intentionally designed to get rid of services and teachers, are wrong. America shouldn’t be the place to […]

The Little Engine That Derailed—How Aligning Books to Skills Kills the Joy of Reading

May 16, 2014 By Nancy Bailey 2 Comments

It is one thing for a child to read The Little Engine That Could for the pleasure of the story and quite another for her to comprehend the inner workings of a locomotive. ~Joanne Yatvin, former public school educator, a past president of the National Council of Teachers of English, and a former member of […]

Betsy DeVos’ American Federation for Children (AFC) is *already* using predatory tactics to advertise vouchers in AZ even before Gov. Ducey signs #HB2853 (universal vouchers) into law.

What they fail to mention is that voucher schools can legally discriminate against kids 😡
